Who Are We?
The Voodoo Saints are a New Orleans Style Jazz Band based out of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The group is comprised of Rob Alley on Trumpet, Thomas Furlough/Adrian Marmolejo on Bass, and John Holaway on Guitar and Vocals.
What style of music do we play?
We like to take people back to traditional New Orleans Jazz styles made famous by the likes of Jelly Roll Morton or Louis Armstrong. We also play some Dr. John, Professor Longhair, and The Meters. It's mostly Jazz, but we've got some Blues, Funk, Mardi Gras Indian Music, and Latin as well. We try to bring a little slice of New Orleans to Alabama!
Where all have you played?
The Voodoo Saints have been together since 2010, and have played for The Bama Theatre, The Kentuck Arts Festival, 301 Bistro Bar & Beer Garden, Cypress Inn, University of Alabama Events, The Alcove International Tavern, The Avenue Pub, Band of Brothers Brewing Co., Black Warrior Brewing Co., Druid City Brewing Co., Evangelines Restaurant, Tuscaloosa City Arts Council, Dickens Downtown, The Harrison Gallery, Horse Pens 40, Iron City, Local Color Cafe, The Fletcher Henderson Jazz Festival (Cuthbert, GA), Obey's (Starkville, MS), The Hotel at Auburn University, as well as numerous banquets, awards dinners, weddings and other private functions.
What can we expect from seeing "The Saints" perform?
Our love for New Orleans culture is transparent in our delivery of the music. Our group's main mission is to provide more than enough fun, cheer, and positivity to make even the hardest working professional forget about the cares and woes of their day. So come see us next time we're performing and we're pretty sure you'll leave saying "These three guys know how to make you feel like everyday is Mardi Gras Day. "
